Art and Artist

I use art as a platform for story-telling, and a way in which I can advocate for myself as well as the lives of others.

My artwork is inspired by my experiences as a former professor of nursing (teaching philosophy and ethics of care) and neonatal and humanitarian relief nursing. I have come to share in the lives of people at their most vulnerable, and bore witness to their amazing courage and resilience. Each patient, with their own story, has taught me something incredible about the human spirit. My art is born from personal experiences and reflection on the countless individuals I have encountered during that time which have shaped my perspective.

Through this background and my work as a mindfulness practitioner, I have been led to explore the themes of wellbeing—as a fundamental need to cultivate within ourselves and our communities. I aim to make art a subjective experience that draws on our shared human condition, exploring themes of mind, healing and resilience, ethics of care, and community and social justice. Art, in all of its forms, serves to reflect the depths of what it means to be human and a catalyst for healing and transformation.

Art for me, is an opportunity to express and create something honest. It’s about finding truth in our lives and a way to connect with something real, something shared. Above all, I seek to create art as a reminder that even when things are difficult, we are not alone.
